I am running for the Kansas House of Representatives because our state government is broken and our budget is a mess. Short-term quick fixes are not fixes at all. Real people are suffering, and the future of Kansas is at stake.

We are beginning to see a new generation of Kansans living, working and raising families in this great state.  I am a member of this new generation.  As my generation comes of age we bring a renewed desire to see government work for the people and with the people, in an effort to continue the traditions that have long been the pride of Kansans. 

As I look to the future that my son will inherit, the need to get things right for the long term becomes ever more apparent.  We need to apply real world, long term solutions to the issues facing our state.  There are several ways we can work to solve many of the problems facing us today.

I am running because I believe:

• Budget - Our state budget is a mess.  We don’t need more band-aid fixes, we need real, long-term solutions. All Kansans have started feeling the squeeze of this economic crisis, and it will be a priority of mine to ensure that those Kansas families who are hurting can get back on their own two feet.  I will do my best to ensure that the Kansas you leave your children will be more financially stable and fiscally responsible than the Kansas we have seen over the last few years.
• Education - Education is the key to creating healthy and desirable communities that will attract both families and businesses to Kansas. By continuing the practice of patching a broken state budget through annual cuts to education, we not only jeopardize our children but also the long term ability of Kansas to draw in new business, new families and grow our state's economy. With a new born son, I have a vested interest in making sure our schools are as strong as they can possibly be. I, like all parents, want to produce the best possible academic environment for my child and know that with your support I can make our schools the best in the nation.
• Economy - Kansas has a unique opportunity to grow our economy and create new jobs by investing in our local energy resources. We need to focus on building a Kansas economy that utilizes these resources in creating long-term, sustainable jobs that will be relevant for generations to come.
• Open & More Efficient Government – I believe that Kansans should be put back in the driver’s seat when it comes to making the decisions that impact our state.  This can be done by making our state government more transparent.  It is also critical that we work to create a more efficient state government.  Kansans are the ones who lose when leaders in Topeka start putting their interests ahead of the people’s well being. 
• Environment – Few things are as precious as the natural beauties found all across Kansas.  We need to promote policies that protect these treasures while tapping into the economy building potential of Kansas wind energy. 

I am running for the Kansas House of Representatives and I am asking for your input, your vote and your support.   We are beginning to see an exciting shift in Kansas politics; a renewed focus on the people instead of the politics.  Many in Topeka have become complacent.  They have become experts at judging which way the wind blows.  It is time for new ideas, new energy and new leadership in Topeka.  While others choose to chase the wind, I will work with Kansans to change the wind.  With your help, we will build a stronger Kansas.
